The Fünfschilling is a restaurant on a vineyard that is tucked away in Fischingen and small village near Binzen in Germany that is around 25 mins drive from Basel. Fünfschilling is a great place to take the entire family to have an inexpensive family meal, to buy reasonably priced wine, spirits and visit their farm shop that is packed full of seasonal fruit and vegetables and other tasty treats. They also have a wonderful playground for kids and some really yummy cakes.
When I entered the Zum Kuss, Cafe Kultur Bar, I was taken a back about how quirky, small and inviting the space was. There were wooden, old style, Parisian seating, a large table with candelabra on it and the most intriguing wall of spirits behind the bar, it was a bit like walking into the bar version of Diagon Alley’s wand shop.

Hinz und Kunz is one of Basel’s most popular cocktail bars just a stones throw away from Basel’s main railway station (SBB) and part of the vibrant and cosmopolitan Markthalle, an old domed, stone market place. Perfect for lazy summer afternoons watching the world go by, watching the sunset over the Rhine, resting after a Rhine swim or just hanging out with family and friends.
