Genusswoche or Good Food Week Basel | 2020

17-27 September at various locations around Basel

Genusswoche Basel is a celebration of regional food and drink from the Basel region.  Genusswoche Basel literally translates to ‘enjoy week Basel’.  This celebration happens in many forms throughout the restaurants and markets of Basel between the 17-27 September.

What's on offer?

During the 10 days of food celebration there are regional food and drink offers available at a wide range of restaurants and bars, here’s my selection events to attend:

17-27 Sept Union Dinner and Restaurant are making a limited edition Basler Burger

17-27 Sept  Sutterbegg will release a special edition bread called ‘Genussweggli’ which is full of nuts and has a true autumnal flavour more on that soon!

17-27 Sept There are cocktail classes at Les Trois Rois

Cocktails and a selection of fine tapas at the three kings hotel or Les Trois Rois.  With the weather being gorgeous at the moment taking your cocktails outside on the balcony might be just the ticket.  99 CHF per person.  Email the bar at the three kings to make a reservation

19 Sept 12:00-24:00  Beer Genuss Basel – Beer Festival at Markthalle

Want to meet a selection of Basel’s finest brewers and find out what on bottle and tap?  Markthalle are hosting an Enjoy Beer Day where you can do just that.  I am going to attend this event to research an article on local Basel beer so i’ll see you there if your are going!

Many restaurants have special regional menus during this period too there is a huge regional whole sale market at markthalle Feld zu Tisch (field to table) that many restaurants are benefiting from to enable them to offer special regional menus this weekend and next week.  For a full list of events click here (website in german)

I will try to cover a couple of events during Genusswoche and feedback to you!  Don’t forget Mondfest is on Münsterplatz on Saturday starting at 9:00.  Mondfest is a Chinese culture festival and literally translate as ‘Moon Festival’.
